looked at a michigan loader 75B with a 4-72 detroit with large letters hecho en mexico cast in. When did they go south of the Rio Grande???????

Detroit Diesel factory stayed in Michigan, but some parts were farmed out to foundries in Mexico.
A 4-71 model means four cylinders, 71 cubic inches per cylinder.
All 71 series engines have the same bore and stroke. The number of cylinders can be from 2 through 24 (vee).
