oil leak

neighbor has a mf 35 and motor oil is dripping out of the weep hole under the transmission. is that due to the rear seal and if so how difficult would that be to fix

Is it a gas or diesel??? If its a diesel and been sitting a long time, the rear seal is a rope type and after running for three or four hrs it may expand and reseal. Are you sure it is engine oil?

its gas and pretty sure its motor oil he had the tranny seal replaced not long ago

Hi Danny,
Does this tractor have the petrol version of the Perkins 3 cylinder engine? If so it may be the rope seal as has been suggested but it is also quite possible that it is the cork filler around the rear of the sump which is allowing oil to pass. If you know that the crank seal has been replaced recently the sump seal seems likely. There is no way to check it other than to remove.
If you do find that it is the rope seal I would strongly advise the fitting of a genuine Perkins rope seal. I have had issues with non-genuine ones failing after just a few hours work. They look exactly the same but the material is different. The genuine ones can be compressed between your fingers a little. The others are much harder.
