Valve spring compressor

You folks that work on Wisconsin engines, what do
you use for a valve spring compressor. The
compressor that is shown in the VF4 book is too
large to get around the valve spring seat. The seat
is real close to the casting part that is threaded
to hold the valve tappet inspection plate to the
cylinder block assembly. There is also not enough
room on the other side either. I am working on a VH4
but would think the valves are the same in both
engines. Maybe not?

I used that same valve spring compressor when I re-built a VP4 years ago. But the VP4 and VG4 are larger engines.

I've had no trouble with a "Snap-On" brand C
clamp type valve spring compressor, but it has 3
sets of spring compressor fingers...without
looking...I guess I just use the set that works/
fits.

The one I have is a New Britain VL 140 bought at NAPA many years ago. It is just too large for that size Wisconsin. I have two sets of fingers and neither of them will work. I will have to keep my eye open for another brand. I would hate to buy a new Snap-on for as often as I would use it.
Thanks Greygoat
