F 40 vs MF 135

I have a ferguson 40 with a freeman loader/snow plow that serves well but this old man needs power steering. My question is will that loader fit a MF 135 that I have my eye on? I would expect some modification to the front brackets.
Are there any quirks to the MF 135 that one should look for?
Any thoughts would be welcomed.

Forgot to mention the loader operates on the tractor hydraulics. I have the ferguson dual remote controls. Works but it's kind of slow and weak but it's fine with a snow blade instead of the bucket

I can not answer your question, but I would think the loader would more easily bolt up to a MF50 (same as your F40 only red) or MF150. As you probably already know: The F40, MF50, and MF 150 are slightly bigger than the 35, 135 series.

Still if you loader has some adjustable brackets then it probably will easily adapt to fit. If brackets not adjustable then nothing a welder would not fix.

Have you considered adding PS to your current tractor? An F40 would be the rarest of all those models from a conversation perspective (not necessarily any more valuable though) but more interesting nonetheless compared to the other models IMOP.

Hello Chief, (think I recognise the name)
It is not possible to change a 135 fit loader to a 40 or 65/165 etc. The main beam under the clutch housing will present no problems. On the 135 most loader front stays are attached via a short beam bracket to the underside of the front axle casting. On the 40/65 165 etc there are 4-bolt mounting lugs on each side of the axle casting. The angle and length of any stays which come from the main pillars are also likely to be different as the 135 is a 3-cylinder engine and the others are normally 4-cylinder. If side headlamps are fitted to the side of the bonnet (hood) these will need to be moved to the top.
Any modification required should be straight-forward but ensure that any fabrication is heavy enough.

I have a MF50 and have 4 five gallon buckets filled with cement in my dirt scoop on the rear of the tractor. About 140lbs per bucket plus the weight of the scoop total 800 plus pounds a couple feet behind the rear axle really takes alot of weight off the front. My 50 steers like a breeze with this counter weight setup and also gives me good traction in mud and snow.

Why not just pickup a 135 with a loader already on it? In my area (western/central Ma) there are several in the $2500 - 4000 range.

When you mention 'modifications'... I assume you know how to weld? Like the others say, the way the front 'baskets? pivot housings'? differ, yeah, they are way off. Luckily, the 135 is shorter, no wide curve around the grill, so the frame 'can' be shortened, mounting plates altered, and after a week or so of free time- it can fit. Rather than switch tractor hunts, see about swapping this 40/50/150 loader for a Davis or? that already fits a 135? Heck, where are you? I might have a davis that will fit a 135..

Thanks for the responses. The reason that I'm kind of partial to my freeman loader set up, I've modified a truck snow plow to fit and mostly that's what I use the tractor for and I carry a back blade for more weight for when I want a clean scrape.
I have another full hydraulic loader that I use for heavy lifting.
Ideally I would fit power steering to the F40 if I could find one.My F40 is a really nice tractor and never fails in the coldest weather in north central Wis. I'm not adverse to purchasing a good MF 50 with ps.
Well hopefully I've got some time befor the next snow falls to put something to gether.
