Massey 44 power steering

I just picked up this Massey 44 and it has a power stering unit on it. I am wondeing if this was an after market kit or just something someone rigged up? Also did they offer live PTO on the 44?

This was jury rigged and no independent or live PTO on a straight Massey 44.

looks more like a 44 special because it has cast center wheels and they did have a hand clutch on the right side that stopped forward movement of the tractor so it was like live PTO

Acording to the s/n it is a 1954 so i assume that it is a special. Thanks for all the replys. A
lthough the power steering is unsightly it works well and makes the tractor allot easier to handle.

The live PTO was an aftermarket M&W, Farmall used them also.

looking at it again it sure looks like it came of some auto or truck kind of like a rack and pinion seeing it has it's own pump set up looks very automotive can you get some more photos of the pump. you have my interest in the set up THANK YOU
