Hello, it"s been a while since I"ve been dubbing around on here, been really busy. A few years ago I rebuilt the engine on my massey (ad3.152 diesel) and after several years I finally have the desire to get some paint on the ole girl (she looks really rough) before I do though, I"ve been thinking about a few projects that I really need to get done first. One is on the front axle king pin. Mine continually backs out (towards the engine) except once I have always caught it in time and worked it back in with a couple screw drivers. I want to make it right. I think what I need to do is pull the pin and insert some shims between the axle and the carrier assemble to get out the slop. In mine there is excessive slop, which has stripped the pin bolt. I was wondering ( and I can"t really remember, and I am currently on my ship at sea) but can I pull that pin from the front, after removing the hydraulic pump, or can it only come off the rear, meaning I have to pull the loader/and front carrier off too?
Also, can anyone tell me the diameter of the pin? On the ship here I can make a few shims to bring home, and insert what I need.
Of course I need to repair the pin bolt, and remove the hydraulic pump shaft (which I anticipate being an adventure, and might back complete disassembly necessary anyway.
Thank you so much in advance
