My pto slipped when worked hard with gyro mower last year. Opened the bottom inspection plate this weekend and found oil sitting in the bottom. Smells like gear oil. I assume i would have to split the tractor at the engine, pull the clutch out, etc to fix a seal in there?

I just read an older post about a weep hole being plugged and yes mine on my massey 50 was plugged. Likely accounted for some of the oil on the clutches.

yea no that its unplugged put a pan under there after use to determine how much is really leaking, and how much your adding. you can go a while before a split or maybe not. make sure everything is in proper adjustment on the 2 stage clutch, just follow the manual. it can be done from underneath thru the plate hole with alittle patience.

Hi,
Using a flashlight examine the clutch cover closely for any sign of oil. Normally when oil is present it can be found on all parts. As has been said, make sure that the adjustment is correct first and that no release pressure remains on the PTO plate when in use.
