What type of fluids?

What specs do I need on the Hydraulic/differential/transmission fluid for my MF65. Manual gives me the capacity (8 gal.) but not the type to use. Is there an owners manual available for servicing? Thanks, Norm.

Just did some work on a friends MF85 and we used the UTF fluid in his tractor. As long as it meets MF spec you should be good to go with a UTF type fluid

Lots of different opinion on type of fluid. Many prefer the straight mineral oil as listed in original manual. 80-90#. Mostly because of bronze bearings in the transmission . I use a current trans-hydraulic UTF. But I don't work the tractor very hard. The lighter weight fluid works better in cold temperature.
As to the volume most manuals list 8 gal. I have an original operators manual for my 65, and it lists 26 quarts. At 7 gal. It was above the high limit on the dipstick.

as others have said you must use the proper oil, it protects the transmission bearings, if your tractor still has the old bronze bearings.

most get all concerned about the hyd system, most hyd oils will work in your hyd system, but it is your trans that you have to worry about.

just do not change the oil until you do your homework and be sure you use the proper oil.

when Arco (was AC) bought MF

i ask for trans/hyd oil for my old to35, young kid tried to sell me some type oil that they used in the AC tractors, because that is what they had.

I told him i did not want wd45 AC oil for my ferguson,

they ordered the proper oil (gl-1) and the kid was taught a good strong lesson from his boss.

You can not just pour anything into a old fergy.
