MF175 will not start

I am in the process of replacing the cab on my MF175 diesel. I removed the oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge and electrical wiring from cab to tractor frame. Also disconnected the throttle and stop cable from the fuel pump. I decided to try and move the tractor...Now it will not start.. The motor turns over(in past it would turnover once and start). I assumed that the fuel pump was my problem, I tried the stop activator at different positions(I did not mark how it was adjusted before disconnecting), the throttle I held it partially open when trying to start it.I reconnected all the gauges. Help, what am I missing...thks.

Hi,
If the engine is turning then the electrical supply to the starter etc is good. The attached photo shows a close-up of the pump. On the forward side is the control to stop the engine. Ensure that it is fully turned anticlockwise. Look at the securing nut on the top of the arm. Is it tight? If it is loose it is possible that the arm is moving on the spindle. Although the stop control my be fully 'in' its possible that the pump is still in the 'stop' position. Ensure that the spindle is located correctly in the arm and nip the nut up.

Check the throttle arm likewise and nip up the nut if it is loose.

Thks. DavidP for the response.. I verified the stop lever and it is well fastened to the shaft that enters the pump housing.. I have attached it completely ccw..still the motor just turns over.. I loosen the compression bolts on the top of the injectors and cranked the engine, their was fuel leaking out but not with an pressure..Can I loosen these bolts completely.(I had just loosen them sligthly). Istill believe it is a fuel problem(yes the tank is full of fuel).I replaced the primary fuel filter..it had not been replaced in ages..I did not try starting it after the filter replacement.. I suspect I will need to bleed the system. Any other suggesting...Ray
