Massey 240 Paint Colors

I bought a 1986 Massey 240 that had an electrical fire. It only has 800 hours, and I am currently restoring it. However, the paint under the hood is nonexistent.

Can someone tell me the original paint colors for the engine parts (starter, power steering pump, alternator shroud, etc), the fuel tank, and radiator/shroud? The agcopartbooks.com site shows the paint colors to be charcoal gray, black, silver, and MF red.

Any help is appreciated.

Here are photos of both sides of brand new 240s Basically the chassis was painted completely starter and all in Graphite grey then the tinwork looms and ancillarys were added with zinc plated bolts. In the case of a burnt tractor, rust will be a big problem. I recommend you sand blast or at least wire wheel everything, taking care to seal everything real well to prevent the sand entering through seals gear-levers etc and I recommend 'Bonda Primer' as an antirust base. It is similar to the original red primer used by MF.
Post your finished project and good luck....

Sam,

Thanks for the reply. This is good information and should help in restoring the tractor. I will look for the primer that you suggested.

Basically I bought the tractor at a scrap price and everything under the hood burned, but I am determined to get everything back to the way it was.

Hopefully, I will get to a point where I can post pictures.

Bought my 240-S about 18 years ago, and the dealer sold me spray paint cans of
Massey Ferguson "Charcoal Grey" No. M1056
AGCO machinery enamel Red/Rouge No. M1041.
Not sure about the red, but i think there were several different versions of the grays/silvers.
