Have hyd. fluid getting into motor oil ? Whats going on.

Eh? I can't wait to see the replies to this one! As you know the main hydraulic pump is driven from the crankshaft via a short shaft which has to be taken apart to replace the fan belt, (what a pain that was to do, been there, done that ) unlike say, a lot of IH and Renault tractors which have the hydraulic pump driven from the timing gear . What I mean is, the pump is in not direct contact with the engine block. There is also another pump in the transmission I seem to remember? So like you I am totally baffled how oil from the hydraulic system could physically migrate into the engine. Sorry that I have no answers but like you I am intrigued to find out why.

That sounds more like it really.(e.g. a hole in the lift pump's diaphragm) I honestly think the only way hyd. oil could get into that particular sump was by someone actually taking the filler cap off and pouring it in but I am prepared to be corrected.
