Multi power on my 275 isn"t working. Won"t go into hi. Don"t really want to spend the money on it rite now, I"d rather wait untill I have to put a clutch in (my loader tractor). Will it hurt anything to keep using it without using the hi side of the multi-power?

My understanding is the clutch and planetary M.P. system receives Hyd. Fluid, hence lubrication, only when in the high position. So it may get pretty cruded up. Also you may have no engine drag on the input shaft. Careful going down hills

Will not hurt anything to use as is, low range is by a jaw clutch, have never seen a low side failure. You will have no engine braking since HI is out though.

Yeah the operators manual tells you to turn it high every now and then to make sure the parts are lubricated right. But, I suspect it actually only might hurt the MP clutch pack, since there are many ex MP tractors, where the transmission has been hardwired to low or high MP.

That said, if you're going to repair MP instead of locking the transmission, chances are you might ruin the clutch pack and have to replace that as well if the problem lies somewhere else.

Hope someone with precise knowledge can peek in and clarify.
