very year for 25 or 30 years. After shot I forget I ever had it. Never any adverse reactions.

(quoted from post at 17:50:04 10/13/12) got it once 10 years ago and got sicker then hel- never again wife same thing we will NEVER GET IT AGAIN.

same here...supposed to be better now but I won't take the chance.....

I never had one. I'm also alergic to Tetnus shots, so I make sure I get my daily doses of oil, greese, welding fumes, dirt, mold, mildew, and goldenrod pollen.

I'm just the opposite Wife and I got the flu about 10 years ago We passed it back and forth for a month. Get the shot every year since then.

I get one every year, and have done so for many years. I did travel the world wide and was near lots of people. I do know some people that get the flu right after they get the shot?????

get them every year for the last 15yrs. prolly have had flu once in that time. before that; i had the flu at least twice a year and sometimes 3-4times a yr.

I never got one until about 7 years ago, but only had the flu once or twice in 30 years. Started getting them and haven't had the flu since, but then I din't before either. Never had any kind of reaction to the shot.

wife & I are both 70+ and have been getting the shots for at least the last 10 years. No flu & no flu/ Not even a sore sholder and insurance picks up the tab. no brainer for me.

After having the flu really bad in 2003, starting getting the shots, work gives them for free anyway.
So far no flu since getting the shot.

Rick

I'm one of them.

When I was in the Marine Corps every years we'd get flu shots, and they were not optional.

Every year, the next day I'd come down with the darndest case of flu you ever saw and be sicker than a dog for close to a week.

I haven't had one since.

The last time I took one was 1985 while in the USMC. I will NEVER get another. Got the shot, and was sicker than a dog for 2 weeks. Refused them the last 3 years of my enlistment, even though it was manditory.....

I repeat - I will NEVER get another one, no matter how "manditory" they make it.

I had one once. Don't know if it did me any good or not. Haven't had any since simply because it skips my mind whenever I'm in town. Jim

Had years that I got no shot and got the flu. Had years that I got the no shot, and got no flu. had years that i got the shot and still got the flu. If it was my choice,I wouldn't bother with the shot. I don't feel that it's that big of a help, but still a help. But I am caregiver for my elderly father, so I always get the shot, for his sake.

One of my biggest accomplishments in the Air Force was dodging the flu shot 2 out of 6 years. Haven't taken one since I traded Captain for Mister. Just wait until external_linkcare kicks in and they become mandatory for everyone, that way it'll be easier to get rid of you when you need to much health care. The Mrs. and #2 Daughter get the shots every year, one's employed by the hospital and the other volunteers so they are required.

No Thanks..Never had one and never will..My wife became very ill after getting her 1st flu shot and has never had another one...She missed 3 days of work...We both know several other people that have had bad reactions from the shot..

My post might be a little too long for some people. You can tune out now.
ANYWAY, the so-called flu "scientists" get together about a year ahead of time and decide what types of flue they THINK will be the worst for the upcoming flu season. So the flu that they think will by bad for the 2012-2013 winter would have been decided sometime early in 2012. The nnalert companies then start making the nnalert and it takes months to manufacture their batches. As far as the flu variety guesses, sometimes the scientists are dead on and sometimes they are completely off. If they are completely off, your flu shot won't help you out because you will have flu immunity to the wrong types of flu. If they manage to guess correctly, your flu nnalert shot MIGHT stop you from getting the flu. It's as simple as that.
Now to the people who say "The nnalert is dead. There is no way it can hurt you", let me tell you the story of my mom. She went in to the hospital for a flu shot in 2010. The shot was given by a registered nurse, no fly-by-night stand at WM. Anyway, a couple hours after she got the shot, the area of the needle puncture wound got a bright red. The next day her whole arm was a bright red and hot. She spent the next 10 days in the hospital (same place she got the shot) on heavy antibiotics for bacterial poisoning in the blood. The doctors didn't tell her that until she was dismissed because they were afraid she would sue them. So anyway you CAN get sick from a flu shot if it's not from the nnalert itself. With all that being said, I'm not afraid to get a flu shot and it just might help me. But I didn't get one last year and I haven't decided yet if I'm going to get one this year.

Got mine last week. At 69 I not going to take any chances. The last time I had the flu I lost 16 pounds in a week and almost got pneumonia.

got a flu shot 3 weeks ago & had very bad cold every since. Prolly got the cold in the hospital where the shot was given.

I"ve gotten the shot for about the last 18 years and have had no reactions or come down with the flu. Wouldn"t miss getting one now.

Was forced to take one by the Air Force in 1977 and came down with the worst flu ever. Mnay improvements since then though,

I wouldn"t miss one today.

Firm believer in immunizations. Always get our flu shots. i take my boys to visit graves, and show them Great Uncle Carl's, who died of diphtheria at 15. I tell them you boys shots prevent all that misery and death.

Ive never had one and probably never will. I have had the flu once in probably 10 years. I read that by allowing your body to fight off disease on its own it strengthens the immune system.

Flu shots don't protect you from every variation of flu. New strains usually aren't covered unless they were present the previous year. Some people get flu shots, come down with a new strain, and want to blame the vaccination they just got as the "cause". Then again, some people still think the earth is flat, The Easter Bunny is real, and Barack external_link is an American....

I used to get the flu just about every year. Been hospitalized 3 times over it. Started getting flu shots 12 years ago and haven't had a case since. Get the nnalert as early as possible. It takes a while to build immunity, so exposure to flu virus in first few days isn't covered. Get it BEFORE the bug starts going around and you'll be 99.9% safe.

Every year at Sams club sign up on line then it only takes 2 min in the store. No pain insurance covers it 100%
no flu since I started getting it yearly
