Running gear price

Looking for a light running gear for my 200 bushel farmec gravity wagon. Found one. Crudely painted, but protected. 4 truck tires, hold air and thats about it, good tongue and says it pulls square. Believe it is a light new holland gear. Asking $325. Fair or not?

In Mn, not a steal of a deal, but likely worth it. My max is $300 for good running gears, down to $100 for sloppy steering/poor tires. Bought a 4 ton running gear for $130, 4 ton with good hay rack for $225, and a good 5 ton with poor hay rack for $160 within the last little while. Last year I bought several 6 tons with flotation tires and 160 bushel gravity boxes for $450 each.

I've got a 10 ton gear with adjustable tongue and frame I bought new from Farm & Fleet about 10 years ago. I built a wood bed to fit a 1500 gal poly tank that's sitting on it. Wood Bed beam is cracked but the wagon and tank are in usable shape. Tires still like new.
$500.00
I used it once as a water wagon in my earthmoving business.

Since the tires are not much (any) good, I'd say it's on the high side, but that partly depends on its capacity. Picked up a 1074 EZ Trail (10 ton) a month ago for $450... 1 good tire, 2 fair, and one no good (12.5x15's). 6 ton or lighter would be $300 and down...

I would say that 325 is top dollar. Be sure everything is fairly tight, we used to have a small gravity box(150bu) on a light new holland gear. It tracked terrible. 15-20 mph empty. 10-13 full.It wasn't a bad gear otherwise. Edit: One other thing that I never liked about the New Holland gear. It had narrow tires on it that the normal 11L-15 wouldn't fit on. It's alright if you have 9.5 spares, but everything around here is atleast 11".

I don't think a light running gear is what you need. If you put 200 bushels of corn in that wagon those truck tires will not carry it very far. Several years ago I hit a bump in the road with a loaded gravity wagon and the running gear collapsed. It was a pretty bad mess. I think you need a good 8 ton gear with 11L implement tires.

Thats about right here. I paid 500$ a piece for bare 8 ton gears in good shape but bad tires. 200$ a piece for 4t new holland gears with junk racks.

I'd never buy any more 4 ton gears though. My spare tires don't fit, they are very light for any kind of modern tractor. We use them for hay wagons but they are a pain as you can't put any weight on them. We put 300 bales on the 8 ton gears, 120 bales is a load on the little tires on the 4 ton gears.

I bought an electric wheels running gear for $250 back in 05. That was with no rack. I put a wood rack on it for a kicker hay wagon. So your price today is prolly ok.
