Gas or Diesel replacement? I have purchased a 1959 880 diesel. Don't have it home yet. Has been sitting for several years, oil was drained over a year ago and plug left out, ran when parked, always hard to start. I have been searching the internet for information and parts availability. I find lots of used, rebuilt, and new parts for gas engine but not much for diesel.
Would rather have gas! if it turns out the diesel needs major work,
IS IT POSSIBLE to put a gas engine in this tractor?

Yes you can bolt in a gas engine if you can find one. As for it being drained of oil and the plug left out that could be no problem at all. I picked up a 8N years ago that was the same way but the engine spun over just find and the only thing that was stuck was one exhaust valve. I would first try to spin it over NOT much just enough to see if it will. If it will move then add oil etc and give it a try it could well be a $30 gamble that would be worth it

With that big bathtub frame and a chain coupler to hook it up to the tranny you should about be able to shoehorn anything into that machine for a power plant.
