i have a 1950 wd and i need to know if anyone can tell the torque specs on the exhaust manifold, and what is the part called that connects the thermostat housing to the engine. thanks

The book does not list any set torque for the manifold. Torque them as per spec for the size of bolt they are. If I where to guess I would say 30-40ft/lbs

Torque the head bolts and rod and main bearings the other bolts are just a learning thing that you get as you do more and more engine work. There are charts online that will give you maximum torque values for bolt type and size. But remember these are max and you should alway set your wrench down some depending on the type and hardness of the material.
Like I said its a learning curve the you will learn over time. Use the proper size whench so that you don't over torque the bolts. What I mean is don't use a half in. Ratchet to seat a 3/8 bolt. Or vise versa.
Google torque values for bolts to find a chart.
