ford yt16 mower deck

My mower starts fine but the deck won't stay running it shuts off in minutes after running. The tractor itself stays running. I replaced the toggle switch for it already and it still does it. Any suggestions on this problem?

Check that connectors for tractor wiring harness/pto clutch are clean & pins in same not dirty or damaged/discolored due to heat by a possible bad coil in pto also check connectors for a tight fit when plugged together,if pins in connectors ok & bodys plug together tightly,then check current draw on pto coil(probably lt blue/blue on pto sw/harness connector)best guess current draw will be 3.5-4A on coil unless some of the other guys can come up with a better figure.

If pto coil drawing between 3-4A,check battery with a hydrometer or remove & have load checked,you may have a weak/bad battery & depending on alt stator/charging system on eng same may not be able to keep up with current(amp). demand of pto & trying to charge a weak/bad battery.

If battery checks ok,connect a voltmeter across battery,with eng running at normal cutting speed turn on pto & watch voltage at battery,if voltage starts to drop then you may have a problem in alt stator/rectifer regulator(if eng has)ammeter or possible internal problem in ign sw.Depending on eng speed normal charging voltage is between 14-14.5v,less/more than that check charging system on eng,you'll need service/repair manual for your mod eng to troubleshoot/id alt stator used in on eng charging system if you have a voltage problem.

As an add on,IF while checking current draw on pto coil & reading suddenly goes to zero,either you have bad wiring harness/pto connectors or a bad/loose connection in pto coil,to isolate this problem run temp wires from battery to pto coil connector,run eng,if amp reading again goes to zero,then you have bad connections on coil connector or connection(s) inside pto are loose/bad & coil or complete pto will have to be replaced.
