OT Truck Plows

When do you guys put the plow on your truck? I'm in Central New York, last year I put it on in October and we had very little snow. Should I do it again?

Darned if you do and darned if you don't
I make sure mine is repaired and ready to go. It only takes about 5 mins. to put it on.
I don't want to carry that weight around when not needed.

Put plow in shop, with mount facing backward so you can drive in and bolt it up when needed.

If snow never comes, go in with loader tractor in the spring and haul it back to the fencerow, and say to self, "Maybe there IS something to this 'global warming' stuff. . .".

I have an old '78 Chevy 4X4 pickup I don't bother to put plates or insurance on anymore, just use it offroad on the farm.

Usually put the plow on it the first time snow is in the forecast and leave it on till spring.

Friend of mine commercial plows, it goes on an is prepped a month ahead, then is removed and only goes on for each storm. He's running a Chev 2500 HD, he says he goes through enough front end parts without the extra weight of the plow.

I don't until I absolutely most have it - IE can't get the truck out of the garage without it.
It's a nuisance driving it with an unneeded blade. And no, mine is a crawl under and insert the pins, hairpin clip the pins, and baling wire the pins as a backup. (Think maybe I lost a pin once or twice?) not one of the fancy easy hookup things.

No reason to drive around with the plow on, have it ready to go, hook it up after the first good snow fall.

Only takes a few minutes with my Western and Meyer.

Mine sits undercover in the barn year round. In the summer it's behind the discbine, in the winter it's in front of the discbine. It's a Fisher, takes a a minute or so to hook or unhook it so it stays right there until I know it's really going to snow...

I have an old beater plow truck that only gets used once in a while during the off season for hauling a little firewood, so the plow generally stays on year round.
