Seal removal procedure technique

What is your favorite way to remove a seal? On one that has no bottom stop?
Any information would be helpful, thanks

I had to replace the seals on our Troy Bilt tiller. On the one side I drilled a small hole and threaded a screw into the hole that was attached to a sliding bar puller. First I had to drain all the oil. The other side had small cap screws and I removed the cover. Then I used a brass drift to remove the old seal and tapped in the new seal. This is behind the tine holders
and you need to remove them and a long 1/2" cap screw to gain access to the seals. Hal

If you can pull the shaft out, it's real easy to pull one out with a with a seal puller, that is shaped like the letter T, with the upper bar of the R made up of 2 curves, pointing down at the outer ends.
