Quick question, when you have the tractor in forward or reverse and you push the brake, should it go into neutral? I know on some of the later models that was the case. This one doesn't and I don't know if it is supposed to or maybe it is just out of adjustment.

YES...pushing on the brake pedal is suppose to put the Hydro in neutral.

there is a rod connected from the clutch shaft to the plate that moves the directional assembly-- a pin fits in a machined area and pulls the plate into the neutral position. Could be disconnected or pin worn off.

Yes it should, that is done mechanically.
