CASE 446?????

I'm going to look at what a guy says is a older(two tone) Case 446 garden tractor but he also tells me that it has a black stripe on the hood so I'm not sure if he knows for sure what he has. The guy says he has to prime it if it sets more than a day or so to get it to started. He says it runs good & will start right up after it has been run for a while. My first thought is the choke is out of adjustment but the guy seems to think that the fuel pump is weak. He is the type of guy that usually doesn't sell something unless something is wrong with it. Anybody have any thought as to what may be wrong with it. Thanks Gerald

He's probably right about the fuel pump needing to be rebuilt. Kits are available. Not a big deal.

It sounds to me as though he has a Demonstrator model from 1975 or 1976. Case sold these at a special price to the dealers. They have a large black decal in the middle of the hood and if the rest is still there, the word Demonstrator along with black pin striping will be on the sides of the hood.

Original examples are quite collectable so don't alter anything on it if you end up with it or you will ruin the value of it.

Feel free to send me an e-mail if you need further information.
