Throttle and position control

Both the throttle and the three point position control have a mind of their own. Position control lever moves upward on its own as I am mowing so each lap I have to check it and push it back down. Can't imagine this is normal what is the remedy?

Throttle lever if opened up to full also moves back to 3/4-1/2 on its own so I have to tweak it now and again as I mow. Is there a remedy to this?

You may need a new friction disc on each one, but first check and see if there is one still behind the control lever assembly. If there is you can remove the cotter pin and tighten the castle nut until you feel some resistance when you move the control lever. As far as the throttle, find the rod that runs from under the dash and goes into the side of the water outlet. On that rod on the dash end there is a spring and a clamp that holds tension against the throttle disc under the dash. You can try loosening the clamp a little bit and sliding it back towards the dash to put more tension against the throttle disc and see if that helps. If it doesn"t help on either one then you need a new disc on each one, luckily they are the same disc for both the control quadrant and the throttle.
