valve train kit

I put a valve train kit in a to-30 cyl head and the exhaust valves do not have a hole in the top of the valve stem for the valve stem lash caps. Is this normal or did I get the wrong kit. If it is right, is there a cap that is made to fit on the exh. valve? There does not seem to be enough room on the exh. valves to put a cap, or do I not use a cap on them?

I had the same thing with my z134 exhaust valves. If you measure the overall length of your old valves with the caps on and compare them to the new ones they should be the same length, mine were so I installed them wihout the caps and ran them jut like a chevy set-up. I think you can get the original style ones from YT . anybody have a opinion on this an interested to read..

My guess is lash caps and pin style keeper go together.
Split type keepers were used with exhaust valve rotators and NO lash caps..
That is the way it worked for me for my TO20 if I remember correctly. .
Have fun finding Rotators for any price unless things have changed. Also called Rotocaps.
Sealed Power used to list them.

Measure the overall length of the exhaust valve. If its 4.0790" overall length then it doesn"t need the cap. If its 3.9890" overall then it is made for a cap, although it should be drilled if it was.

Thank you all for the answers. The ex valves did come with split keepers. There is no room for a lash cap so I won"t use one.
Lot of great info here. Ferg on
