cub starting problem

Looking at my son's cub today because it won't start after it quit sitting at an idle. Seems to have gas going to carb and has a yellow spark, Thought it should be blue for a strong spark? Cleaned point and check settings, noticed that the owner before had a condenser wired on the electrical stud on the outside of the distributor? Any reason that should be there?

one of 2 things i can think of is its a noise suppressor for a radio OR previous owner didnt have correct condenser and put what he had on the outside.
see if you can find a parts house that sells Blue Streak ignition parts and get the proper new parts.
