Bobcat 753

A 1991 Bobcat 753 Loader is about to follow me home. Is there anything special I need to look out for, other than keep the fluids full and regularly grease all the zerk fittings? And other general maint? It is a Kubota V2203 diesel. Thanks

It probably needs glow plugs to start even when
it's warm outside. That's normal for the older
indirect injection Kubota's. Once warm it should
start right up if you shut it off for an hour or
so. Never under any circumstances use ether on a
Kubota! Was told by a mechanic that Kubota has
very tight tolerances on their engines and he's
seen a few ruined by ether. Bucket pins and
bushings may need replacing as they do wear out.
Hydro's and hyd pump are belt driven so you may
want to check that. Generally a good machine.
Drive it and get it warmed up. Then push against
something solid and it should spin both sides.
Listen for noise from the chain cases or anything
unusual. Also drive full speed for 100 yd's and
see if it goes in a straight line. A slight pull
to one side is OK but a lot may indicate a problem
with one of the hydrostats or the linkage needs
adjusting. If at all possible, do some oil samples
for the hyd. and engine oil.

I have one in that year range. Been a very reliable machine. Parts are expensive. Most everything that I"ve had to repair has been something I broke from misuse or overloading. Other than that mostly wear items. Waterpump, hoses, that kinda stuff. I did break one of the drive chains. I put a link in it and it broke again within a few hours. So replaced them both, haven"t had anymore problems. When it broke the second time it was blocking a gate so I hooked a large tractor to it to drag it out of the way. There was a little snow on and it slid easily so I decided to drag it up near the shop. I looked back as I pulled up to the shop and it was following in my tracks perfect,ON IT"S SIDE. LOL Scratched the paint a little, didn"t hurt it a bit. Get you some forks. It will be the most used piece of equipment on your place.

Well it arrived today (Wed.) and would not turn over with the switch even with jumper cables. Managed to jumper across the solenoid and it started fine. Got a oper. manual and part book with it so I am fishing on eGag for the service manual. It has the LCD gauge panel and is showing nearly empty on fuel so I put 3.3 gal ($12.00) in it and the gauge did not change. At least I know it's not about to run out.
The delivery driver said somebody there got in it and it started ok to load it.

It's got a relay in the fuse box for the starter. The wire broke off the switch one time on mine also. IIRC you remove the headlight on that side and you can see the back of it. I got mine when it was less than a year old and that LCD panel never worked super reliable. I think its just black now. Seems to me we had trouble with a safety switch on the seat also. Can't remember if it wouldn't crank or wouldn't run though. Have to work on mine this weekend also. Partner filled the hyd. tank with diesel fuel by accident. LOL
