hard start TO-30

I would like to relay this to all the 6 volt system tractor owners. My TO-30 had the most hard to start symptoms and I could not make it run for more than 30 seconds after it had been sitting for a while. Trying to start with the choke pulled for more than a couple of times it would flod. After realizing the problem was not in the fuel supply I moved to the points & condenser. I read this, maybe on this forum, but not sure. The condenser should be 220 pF and I would like to thank the person and reaffirm that statement. I went to the parts house and took my meter with me. We went through three different ones at CarQuest and found one. the CarQuest number is {14083} and values a little over 220pF. Installed it and new points just because I had them, the old ones were good, set timming as close as I could by using the shock method( lot of moisture in the air this morning) and pulled the choke. The TO-30 turned over twice and fired off. Ran for enough time to set the timming with the light and got the idle down to 550rpm. Runs great and starts right back up.
I would like to thank the person who did this research and wrote about it. It sure fixed my problem. My hats off to you.

No Sir, THANK YOU Sir! It is nice to hear back on succesful repairs and the complete information you provided. Once upon a time I knew that number and filed it away in the of the brain. Your experience has brought it forward and I should write this down on several repair manuals around here.
Now to find those books. . .
