what is a normal oil pressure for these old fergies?

Depends on what engine you have, A Continental Z120 or Z129 should be 20-30psi at full throttle and 15psi at idling speed when the engine is in good order and has the correct grade of oil. If it is a Standard Motors Engine it should be between 40-60psi at full throttle and around 20-30 at idle. Often low oil pressure is because the Oil Pump is worn and it is something that is often forgotten about, it could also be that the pressure relief valve on the Pump is sticking and needs cleaning, but more often the Pump will be worn..John(UK)[email protected]

The book says 25-30 psi on an engine at operating temperature with a min acceptable of 15 psi at 400 rpm. Our TO-30, hot or cold, at any rpm is a consistant 27 psi. Never varied in 11 years. Only time it goes lower is when I shut it off.
