Always like those IH crawlers. Operated the TD6, TD9, TD14, but my favorite was the TD20 with a dozer that I got to operate for awhile.

The TD20 was really a nice crawler.

Thanks for posting, I too have a soft spot for IH equipment, they always made nice looking tractors,ah yesterday tractors.

More than half a lifetime ago I rebuilt a TD24 from the flywheel clutch to the two speed steering unit. That was an interesting job but after finishing it test running was even more interesting. Oh What A Feeling! full throttle in high gear one side in high and the other in low running in a circle and not touching any controls.

No Mike I was sitting on the Couch/Seat of that big Red Tractor/painted over with Hwy Yellow. The TD24 was a year older than Me and was the BEST crawler steering system for 40 years untill Cat brought out Diff Steer. In tough going you can get in pretty deep untill you want to steer, on a Cat, AC or Euclid Pull a clutch and put all the power to one track and you get that Sinking Feeling as the swamp water floods the floor plates and fills your boots. The TD24 offers you the option of shifting a steering lever up or down depending where they are, high or low and steering with Full Power to both tracks and Not breaking through the surface. Many oldimers have told me they didn't know why but those old IH TD's would go through a swamp that nothing else would. They thought it was ballance, I think it was two speed steering, and full power to both tracks.
