Chain binder size

I just ordered new ratchet binders, size 3/8" X 1/2", thinking I had 3/8" chain. It mics at .334 a bit shy of 3/8". Question, do you think the chain will slip through the hooks?
Experienced opinions requested.
Thanks much,

.334 is grade 70 5/16 chain. It should have a inside length of 1.12 and width of .48 inches.

The 3/8" X 1/2" binders you ordered are for grade 70 3/8 (.392) and grade 43 1/2 (.520) inch chain.

With that said it is not the diameter of the chain link that does the holding on the binder. It is the total width of the next link that keeps it from slipping threw.
The chain you have is going to be 1.148 inches. This is greater than the hook that should be in the .6 range but the correct chain is going to be a much better fit with a width of 1.384 inches.

So will it work. Probably. Is it going to be legal. Probably not.
You need the next size down binder. 5/16 X 3/8

What John said or the next size up chain. If you had to order the binders it might be just as easy to just swap the chains. If you bought 2 20 FT chains you could cut one in half. Then add a hook this gives less chain to mess with and still reaches the drawbar.
