Deer resistant grass

I'm looking for a grass product to seed fields with. Ideally, it would be a type deer dislike and is low growing. I can mow it, so low growing or slow growing are desirable, but not necessary. My main crop, trees, will be planted in rows, but currently the deer feed across the field, eating trees along with the grasses. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts. This is Northern Pennsylvania hill country - zone 5 (at best)

Deer are browsers, not grazers, so they really eat very few grasses. In face they can t even digest many grasses. Other than annuals like wheat, rye, etc, they usually focus on legumes and some small young grass shoots. Any of the typical PA grasses like fescue, orchard grass, ect will not be bothered by deer. But just because they won t eat the grass won t save your trees.

Agreed that deer are by nature browsers however as the deer population exploded here in Pennsylvania they are evolving into grazers also. Not uncommon to see 10 to 15 or more deer out in a mowed lawn/field in the evening eating nothing but grass..
