1958 JOHN DEERE B Drill (I think)

Hello all,

I could use some help with my drill. I believe it to be a 1958 JOHN DEERE b Drill. It is in very good condition, everything seems to work well. I am just unsure how to set the front seed boxes to correct setting. Is each number LB per acre?? I was told to put 20lb per acre for the round up ready alfalfa seed, but the numbers dont go to 20. Any information is welcome.

Also not sure if I want to plant oats with it. There is good drainage, fairly well protected from the wind. Pros and cons to that??

Thanks
Shawn

There should be a chart on the inside of the lid of the seed box that gives pounds per acre of different seeds as it relates to the settings on that gauge. If the chart is gone, you'll have to find a manual with one in it, unless somebody here can tell you what theirs says.

There's probably more traffic on the Implement Alley forum. If you post there, somebody else might have one of those drills and can give you the settings.
