The trouble is trying to use a tractor now....

I tried to get a round bale today. Was supposed to be a better day, ended up 4-5 degrees I think, 20mph winds, dang that was cold, snow drifting. Was minus 14 or 16 or so last night.

So when I rammed out through the hip deep sno, when I got in the wind my fuel gelled. Was just able to get turned so the wind blew the engine heat back on the fuel filter, could head back home in a couple minutes.

March 4th and the tractor tells up. Sheez.

Only one I?ve used much, and used it too much, is this one. If I can get a picture to load.

The mud in my area seems about hip deep now(LOL)I'd like a couple days where the ground was frozen to move some hay around.

We all end up with the same different problems don?t we.

There's simply NO reason to have to deal with problems like that.

Unless you are a "newb" at diesels and/or cold weather, you would have have "winter diesel" in the tractor, and would have had no issues/drama.

In life, there's probably some things that mite come up that are unpredicted, and mite throw you a curve, but not this issue, IMHO.

I got myself in the hospital in October, the tractors sat more in fall than I would have planned, I had just fueled them up before I got hurt, happened to be summer diesel
here in MN which is 20% bio, normally plenty of time and hours to burn that up before it gets real cold, but not when it?s parked.

It turned bitter cold here on a dime in December, no easing into cooler weather.

I healed up fine over winter but couldn?t get dirty or fluids on me for quite some time so really didn?t feel like drawing out diesel from a multi tank tractor in cold weather
and fooling with that. I added Power Service and winter #2 which generally works well in that tractor but the cold came in faster and harder than I could use up the
summer #2 in my limited state. Neighbors did enough getting harvest out for me, didn?t need to pester them to fool with it.

Getting #1 diesel I used to have a 50 gallon tank to blend some in, but it hasn?t been this cold in 15 years, my tank was under a snowdrift out back by the time I healed
and who thinks you need to continue fiddling with gelling by March 1st? I actually loaded a couple 5 gallon cans in the pickup to get diesel from the service station that
handles it; they had bags on their pumps at minus 25 I guess they were not selling properly blended fuel either, I tried tho.

So, yes, I suppose I am just a dam stupid fool and it all serves me right I had any issue at all. I deserved it.

Paul it was 25 below zero here just last week I?ve gelled my pickup and tractor this winter running ?winterized? diesel fuel . Last winter even the fuel pumps gelled up they were dumping 911 in buy the bucket full trying to thaw the fuel they usually do prettty good but when it gets below -20 you better have a good double or triple dose of your favorite anti gel In the tanks

Paul hope things get better for you tomorrow. I am not running you down, just advising. The only way to prevent gelling is by using 100% #1 fuel. When it gets to 0 or below and stays there this is the only way to prevent gelling.
The crap in cans and bottles cannot be depended on. My fuel customers just depended on me to put the correct fuel in their tanks.
