too much rain

Didn't ever think I would say that for my part of SC. I was late planting garden because of late cool weather and a broken down digger. It rained often also. Got a few dry days and planted sweet corn, beans and okra. Then Alberto the storm came and it rained a lot and every day. Very few plants came up, but weeds and grass thrived. I had used some Merit corn seed that had been stored in a refrigerator for a couple of years, but, not trusting it I went to a store to get some new seed. No more merit, they said, it has been replaced by Bodacious. What happened to Merit? We have been using it with great satisfaction for years because of its great taste and ease of removing the silks. Like a lot of other things, such as Vise Grip pliers, it seems that they can't keep a good thing going.

The beans and Okra seed were new so we replanted them with the same seed.

I had one year where I planted beans a number of times due to having to much rain and the seed just rotted in the ground. This year I am having the opposite problem and it has been way to dry

In the 38 years I have live here in Missouri I have found it is always one of two things. It is always to dry or to wet never an even balance of the 2

Thundering this morning. Have had 1-1.7 inches of 'showers' over night. One weatherman is calling for a total of 3.9" until this is all done Saturday.

So much for hay season again this year. Haven't put up a dry bale in 3 years now. Can't catch 4 days in a row without rain.

I have most of my north field done and still have the south field and the neighbors place to go to be done but so far the yield has been poor. Getting one bale when I should be getting 2 or 3. Grass does not grow well when it is so hot and dry

Been to your local HF store lately....or if no store www HF? Plenty of them (generic) and some are huge. Different kinds of teeth contact types. Sold in packs or singles for the big boys.
