Finally got some seed in the ground.

What a spring. Then just as the snow was melting away, I get the cold head chest crud stuff, that really sets me back when I catch that, so im running half speed.

At least I'm running.

Haven't seen a steel wheeled drill for quite some time. Even as a kid in the late 70's early 80's they were kinda rare around here. When dad would pull ours out it always looked so weird with all the more modern equipment around.
Nice old Ford too...
 
The Ford is a 75 5200, it gets a lot of hours a year here, planter, baling, hay mowing, etc. generally all around.

I have a 12 foot rubber wheel drill from dad. Nice old drill, but it saw a lot of acres, and when something broke on it 2 years ago I realized parts
are getting to be a problem...... so, I found this steel wheel 10 foot drill as a 'parts machine' in case something breaks for a few 100 bucks.
Trouble is, it's in nicer shape than my 'good' machine. So I run barley or wheat through this one, and oats through the 12 foot. I only plant a
handful of barley acres, and 10-20 acres of oats.

Kinda silly to have two drills,and for less than 30 acres use a year, but it works I guess.

It has been the same kind of spring for us in Missery, We had snow on the ground and killing freeze the first of May.
 
I'm still coughing.

The barley and oats are up, I still have some corn to plant, and all the beans. Really wouldn't take long, got 1/4 inch of rain over night, and mist to overcast all day today. Not enough rain to wet things down, too much to do any field work.

Ended up having to rebuild the clutch on my JD 7000 a couple days ago, had the parts but didn't do it with my bad cold and bad weather this spring knew it needed it. That is not a fun job, under pressure, tho straightforeward. Glad I took pics before pulling the shaft out, so many parts to put back in in order.....
