A guy around here plants his silage corn around mid to late july, I noticed yesterday that the silks just turned brown, after a couple frosts on it he will be chopping. Funny thing is he always has a decent corn crop.

that was probably my question. corn looks good, nice and green yet. figured I can combine corn in the snow (if not too deep) but was afraid of early frost making the beans hit the ground. yield might be down a bit, but ears I looked at had 16 rows with 40 kernels per row and filled out to the end.

You in the part of neb that has had the heavy rains? Not typical for your state. Things finally going here in MN, man what a wet 2 year period we have had.....

I planted 8 acres of corn in June, that is not a great idea here but half of it wa wet spots might as well fill in with corn instead of weeds, and 1/2 was ground we tiled in early June, I had had the nitrogen put down and then the tiler came up with a plan to tile there..... don't say no to a tiler when they stop by here.....

yes we had that set on about three weeks ago. this week has been dry to everyone pushing on beans. if not for those rains in sept and October I don't think much would have survived.
