Finally a little harvest

Man it's been wet around here, two years really, last fall was a wet harvest, this one is starting out worse. Southern MN.

Got a couple acres of beans out yesterday afternoon, I had 5 acres of early beans that got planted early. I think they will be over 13%, will know in a bit when I get to the elevator. But need to start somewhere, we are running out of time this far north.

Finally have a combine that can eat some green stem beans, the F series liked to bipinch and plug the feed drum, the M2 must have a weak feed drum clutch as even shimming it it liked to plug. The L3 grumbles a lot but sure took in a lot of wet material, some stems and unfortunately some wet weeds.

So humid, ground is so wet, it will be a challenge to find more that works today. There just isn't much drying going on. Had 20mph winds yesterday, and dew was still on the grass at 1:00pm yesterday!

See some neighbors starting corn, but not sure if they are doing high moisture corn in the silos.... I hear 25% corn is a nice find, mostly higher.

So much for harvest this week, nearly noon, grass is terribly wet from dew, sun went away, showers not real far away on radar, and my 'driest' beans from yesterday tested 16% at the elevator.

Glad I got started tho. Think it is 90% chance of rain Saturday.

Elevator guy said one fella found some 21% corn, but most coming in is right around 26%. That doesn't pencil out well either.

I picked 6 loads of corn today. I don't know how smart it was to start on a Friday. Rain's on the way. Could be up to three inches by Monday morning they say.

Guys have been going hard here (sw wi) that is till it rained a couple days ago , bigger dairy went by today with Case IH combine, 2 grain buggys and a semi in the rain! It is very muddy here so was surprised to see them. Rain for today and tomorrow then nice clear streak.

My corn is really green yet so not going for a while. 107 day corn planted close to the 1st of June, might just blow it in silo as high moisture grain, will see!

Yesterday's load of beans was 16%.

Still had some on the combine, and the sun actually broke out this afternoon after all, so I got another 3 rounds out to fill up the wagon. 16.1% on that load.

Well, at least I won't have to pay much taxes with the discounts I will get.
