Hail and wind

Last night had some bad wind go by, some hail. Beans are roughed up, corn is leaning pretty bad, lot of trees and branches down.

Still looks good compared to a mile NE of me, they had bad hail, crops are stripped down to not much left.

10 miles north of me they had baseball size hail, lots of debts and cracked windshields and building damage.

Site doesn't want to take pics from me right now, but you've all seen it before, just looks tough.

We had that two weeks ago... trees down, hail, flipped a pivot. Things are healing, but slowly. It is depressing, isn't it???

I was driving around at 8:00 this morning, area that looked worse than mine. Fella drove by on a ATV looking at his crops, I said if farming were easy everyone would do it eh? And he agreed.

I was so thankful the buildings survived.

Growing a crop is this wave of hoping and watching it get bigger and better through the summer, especially right now is when corn really spurts up. Really crushing to see it knocked down and the wave stops.

You heard about the 4 inch hail at Winthrop? Can"t imagine how anything survives in that! A month ago we caught a Lake Superior storm in the UP of MI- relatively small but we pulled over multiple times, but saw no car damage. Blinding wind and rain, still daylight.

last night in swMn- high winds flattened a lot of corn, I was the only person in Pipestone Co. to report storm damage on buildings. I lost my 32x50 barn built in 1924 then learned it had been taken off of the policy! I also have a lot of trees down. We got an inch and 8 hundreths of rain but payed a high price.

June 22 had a hail storm go within 3/4 mile of our farm. Bean fields looked like they were disced and corn fields of boot tall corn were cut off to 1/2" nubs. Field cultivated 75 acres for a neighbor so he could replant corn. Storm went from west of Watertown SD to Ihlen Mn. Must have been a 100 mile stretch. Most farmers replanted beans and corn.
