Do any of you grow triticale and if so can it be dried down enough to square bale?

Hi Mark

I am on different side of the world to you here in Australia. Here triticale, wheat, oats and barley are made into hay of all different bale sizes. So question can other cereal hay be made in your area? If yes then triticale should work.

Here in SW Ontario I've only seen it used for silage usually with peas as a nurse crop for alfalfa. I do know that we once had some tile installed in a corner of a hay field and that was sown to barley as a nurse crop to reseed the hay. Even though it was heading when cut the barley didn't want to dry down.
