Irrigation question about buried pipe

Hi, All,

I have a half acre garden 400 feet back from the house. It gets a s dry as popcorn in between the thunderstorms here in nashville, so I'd like to get water to it. I plan to drip
irrigate w drip tape. My specific question si about getting water from the house (where I plan to collect graywater form the shower and rainwater form the roof).

Most I see say to use 'roll poly' yet there is a huge variety of reviews. I think the maxkimum flow rate for irrigation is going to be maybe 2 gpm so fritction head loss not such a big
issue. I was goign to buy 300' plus 100' of 1 or 1 1/4 ADS 160 psi polyethylerne coil form lowes or HD - the roll poly at TSC has a number of poor reviews. I was goign to dig or
trench 18" deep

Anyone who has toips or advice I'd loev to hear it.

thanks in advance.

Bill

Hi William

Are you putting the dripper tape in the ground? Have seen these systems and they work very well if you are really up on the filtration and maintenance. Blocked lines are a real problem and if buried you will not see it until stuff starts dying. Grey water may be a challenge due to the soap residue in the water clogging things. Just some thoughts . My issues are getting rid of water so not much good from me.

Drip tap needs pretty clean water, the grey water is going to be an issue.

Plants need water when it's dry, 2 gal per minute isn't going to water a very big area?

So this is gravity fed, couple lbs of pressure at most? Or are you gonna pump it, pressurized?

thank you both. I am burying the line out there, then the drip tape on the surface of the soil.

Yes, I plan to filter the water, and I will ahve a pump, etc.

The gpm I quoted form the manufacturers sheet of gpm/100ft

does the choice of material for the buried line sound acceptable?
