2,4-D Application Question

I"m trying to "read and follow label directions" for spraying some Amine 2.4-D on some open land and have some questions. What"s the formula for translating the recommendation for 2 quarts/acre to the amount of water/chemical mix to spread per acre?

You'll have to calibrate your sprayer so you know how many gallons of water you're putting on per care, then add in 2 quarts for every however many gallons that is.

rrlund has it right. I took my sprayer to a field with water in it and it put on about 100 gal on a 5 acre field. So, that is about 20 gal per acre. I mix in the proper amount of chemical for 1 acre for each 20 gal. of water. I think most farmers try to apply 15 to 20 gal per acre. You need to get enough water for good coverage.

....And still, after decades of being a Certified Applicator,I have to take a test and pay $50 every three years to keep my certification and buy RUPs.

The guy who gives the test said he tried to convince the powers that be to just grandfather it in if we've had it for 20 years or more, but they wouldn't go for it.

On hay ground we just use 1 pint of 24D. And 10 gal water to acre. Like below. Just spray a little section with water and see how much you use. You can download a app to count acres on your phone. You can drive around any field and it will tell you the acres.

We'd still have to pay to renew, just wouldn't have to take the test. We can renew by credits if we attend enough meetings that give them, but we need 18 credits in 3 years to renew. They give a good review just before the test every year, but the meeting costs $20 to attend and it's only 3 credits. That's a big "Thanks for nothing".
