Pre emergent herbicide

Hello,
For those that do tillage how many do a pre emergent herbicide for spring wheat? I do fall plowing and spring disking and in the past I have not tried it, but thinking it may help reduce weeds if I put some down this year.

Not sure where you are, but here in Ontario, spring wheat is sown as early as possible, so no weeds have had a chance to germinate. Never heard of pre plant on wheat, most is sprayed post to control broadleaves and wild oats. The wheat should be competitive enough to crowd out any grass left after tillage. Ben

Centash,
Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same, but some have told me that it will assist in having even minimal weeds to deal with later. I have only seen burn down in the spring and then seed, which maybe the same idea.

Sometimes we used to put down a pint of Treflan after drilling wheat and incorporate it with a spike tooth drag for control of foxtail.
