no till drill

looking at getting a no-till drill for cover crops. Anyone have any experience with a Krause 5500 air drill. Since Kuhn took them over, they have not made the air drill, instead going with the mechanical. Looking for pros and cons. Seed will be a mix of rye and tillage radish.

What are you seeding into? This year we used two different notill drills. One was a Deere 1750 planting oats and radishes after rye and oats. The ground was very hard and we had a little trouble getting the seed into the ground but plenty of rain made all of it grow. We planted rye after soybeans with an IH drill with a coulter cart and it did a good job but there was much more soil disturbance. We used the IH into some standing stalks and it worked good. My opinion is the Deere is better in soybean ground and low residue conditions. Planting into standing corn stalks you need a drill with a notill coulter to till the ground. Tom

We are looking at planting a oats/tillage radish mix into wheat stubble with straw spread and rye into soybeans later. Maybe even use it to plant winter wheat. The Krause has a built in coulter setup. I just suspect the air system will have issues with two different sized seeds used in the tillage radish oat mix.
