Equipment Size for JD 4020?

Hey all, first post on the forums. I'm looking for some equipment to run on my granddad's old 4020. I want to do hay in the future, and I'll most likely end up using his tractor, or buying one like it in the future. We have a New Holland 855 round baler and the tractor pulls it fine. We've been out of the hay business for a loooong time. Around 6 years now, when I was 13. I'm old enough to take over the business, but I cannot until I have the money to do so in buying new (to me of course, can't afford brand new) equipment. I'm pretty sure this is gonna be my only tractor for a while, so I'm wanting to find some equipment for it so I can at least know the prices for when I do end up buying. Not looking for any specific brands, just maybe sizes if anything. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Equiment we do have:
Bush Hog 1106? 8ft 3pt bush hog
New Holland 855 baler

Equipment I'll need:
Disk
Seeder/seed spreader
Mower
Windrower/Rake

Type of terrain & soil type will dictate disk size. I'll guess disk size you'll need is 12'-16' wide.
Windrower=9'-12'
seeder=12'
mower=15'
rake=any size

I wish I had the sense to start my hayin business when I was your age... that being said..

Make hay that your proud of Good bales small or large and folks will buy. I have standing yearly clients now which is nice..no worries about selling the bales and they know the type of hay I put up.

Small bales will make you more money if you have "horse" folk in your area. BUT more work. You tend to forget about the work part once the money comes rolling in.

I like my 273 N.H. but would not mind a 276 or larger capacity small baler but it works and works well so....

I also use a 10 wheel V rake.. LOVE IT..I cut with a 1209 J.D. 9' mow/cond

I didnt have a planter or seeder when I planted a 12 acre patch but I had a lawn tractor with a broadcast spreader. Farmer down the road came by when I was spreading my seed and told me that was a .... poor way to plant seed. The following spring he came by and told me it was the best stand he had ever seen that soon after planting.. So I guess you can get by sometimes thinking out of the box.

The only thing Im missing is a way to accumulate the bales.. the kunns system seems interesting but for now I just do it by hand.
Good Luck and welcome to YT...

Thanks for the input! My granddad had an 8ft disc mower, no conditioner, until he quit out. We used to run that. Is there any plus to having a MoCo over just a plain mower? And, if I was to get a seed spreader, would I be better off to plow/disc and then plant the seeds? I probably sound stupid, and hate having to ask all these questions, but papaw never really told me much, just showed me how to work the equipment and let me go. He never wanted me to be a farmer, but I always find myself coming back to it.

My neighbors typically pulled an 18 foot disc with a 4020, I had a JD 210 14 foot with cone blades, and it was a good match for it. 3020 really struggled with it...both tractor with duals. MOCO has a distinct advantage over a mower when it comes to drying time...especially with leafy alfalfa vs grass. Discbine is better than a sickle MOCO. Ran mine for 11 years and never plugged it, no matter the height of whatever I was cutting- even weeds higher than the tractor cab. Point rows? Whatever goes in the front, comes out the back in a new windrow...no plugging.

What kind of soil do you have? Also is the land flat or hilly? Both items will affect what sort of equipment that tractor will pull.
