Wheat stubble

A couple questions. Anyone use a IH 150 hoe drill in wheat stubble that has been disked just once? Anyone pull a disk in front of their drills in wheat stubble? Thanks

Some guys use IH hoe drills with Eagle Beak openers and aftermarket springs to direct seed in to stubble. I've heard of one guy in my area does this but I haven't had a look at his outfit. His crops look as good as anybody else's.

Pulling a drill behind a disk should work unless you have real sticky clay soil. My uncle use to use a combination of an old Case field cultivator with an IH 620 double-disk drill hooked behind and got on well.

Google VW Manufacturing - they have openers for IH drills. Their plant is just outside of Medicine Hat, Alberta.
