Cut the last of my 2nd cutting hay today

Well I am done cutting hay for this year. Ya I could cut a little bit more but not worth the bother to do so. But with the temps we are having it maybe a few days before it will be dry enough to bale. The plan is to do squares so will need to be a bit drier then if I was going to do big rounds. Right now it is in the upper 60s and tomorrow not suppose to get over around 77. I hope it dries out enough to bale it Wednesday since I can get extra help picking it up and stacking it in the hay barn. Guess I'll know in a couple day is it is dry enough to bale

Had end in sight for baling second cutting. Baler, a Vermeer 505I, was making thumping noises. Started working on it this morning, found a bad bearing on top driven roller. Went to get bearing and other parts. After some work found that the shaft is probably bad. Was going to pull baler to dealer and let him work on it. Noticed lump on tire. Took wheel off, went to town to get a used truck tire, to replace the used tire I was running. No luck in that town, will try another tomorrow. Weather her in SC about the same, dry. The weather guessers don't think we are going to get much rain from the hurricane. Good luck with the square baling.

Gonna cut maybe my last 3rd today, just depends on the weather. I am planning on it laying on the ground for a while and possibly getting some rain on it.

I'm done for the year. Did have to switch out tractors on the baler because the WD45 did not want to run like it should have so had to put the D-17 on. Got a trailer full of hay. 6.5X16 trailer stacked 5 or 6 high. Baler does not have a counter and we did not count how many we picked up and stacked. I still prefer doing the big rounds but when the hay barn is almost full one has to do the squares so as to fit them in

Easy enough to count bales. 2 bales wide by 10 bales long, 20 to a layer, 5 layers 100 bales, 6 layers 120.

On our 8 by 16 racks we would put 2 1/2 wide by 10 long. 25 to a layer.

The way the boys stacked them on the trailer an then in the barn it is next to impossible to count them because they did such a sloppy job of stacking
