Wire Fencing Splice

I noticed this forum with respect to splicing wire fencing ideas. From what I have found, crimp splices are only a temporary fix which isn't good if you are protecting your investment and tying wire fencing can be difficult especially with high tensile or old/brittle wire that will break. Check out this link to Ranchmate ( http://www.ranchmate.com ). If the DOT specifies a "Western Union Splice" that is a method, than Ranchmate' Twist Splices would be the easiest and strongest splice available with no tools needed. Average retail cost per pair of inline splices is only around $1.99 each. These splices are a preformed western union splice that you would use and are the exact same products (Shrunk down) as what the power and energy companies use to splice/repair power lines and cables. Products like these are significantly better than a method that might be incorrectly applied.. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

I disagree, crimp splices are very permanent. Besides, this post sounds like a cleaverly placed add.

Certainly not a placed add. I just have never heard anything good about splices. I've always thought of them as a band aid solution only. Expansion and contraction alone takes a toll on splices.

Certainly no advertisement. At the end of the day a western union splice is open to interpretation as to how to correctly utilize. A Twistsplice is a preformed version of a western union splice to guarantee a stronger and safer splice. Appreciate the the reply..

Did you ever fly in a small aeroplane?

Did you survive?

Did you realise that the control cables were most likely held together with Nicopress swages?

Which work fine on the line wires in fencing if you follow directions on swage and the go-no go gauge

Nicopresses look to be much more heavy duty but hey if it works for you, great. I've met numerous folks that can't stand crimps because they simply failed.
I guess comparing an airplane accessory would be the same as the Twist Splices being compared to the splices used on Power lines. Once those snap the Lineman uses a larger version of a twistsplice/(helical design to repair) and the stress, tension and weathering on power lines are extreme...

Not an ad? Lol.
