Anyone else not having the greatest of hay yields this year for some reason.. We had flood like rains in spring but the fall and winter were dry.. Assume this is the reason.. Im getting about 2/3 yields then last year.. S.E. NEbraska

My first cutting here in Michigan was way above average. Second is pretty skimpy. Running about two round bales to the acre vs 8-9 on the first cutting.

I'm in Michigan too. About the same results as Mr Lund. 1st was great, 2nd was almost half of what I got from last year's 2nd. Will be starting 3rd soon. Doesn't look terrible, but also going to be lighter than previous years.

I had good 1st cutting. 525 small squares on 6 acres so about 2.4 ton/acre. Still haven't had a weather window that worked with work schedule but it's going to be light. Will be lucky to get 200 bales. Got dry in June and stunted the grass. Need to get it cut and let 3rd cutting take off, we have plenty of moisture to work with now.

Had a cool spring so first cutting was a little less at first but improved as we moved from farm to farm, two weeks, 120 acres, 840 4x5 rolls. Most went for pasture but the fields we did take second cutting from was cut earlier than needed (July 2nd) so we could spread litter on them making bale count a little low. Plan to start 3rd cutting Monday if weather permits. Need to go check one farm that we didn't get cows moved on to see if it needs cut again.

I live in Quebec, we had a good 1st cut but the second will be pretty thin because of the lack of rain. Apparently we can't have everything, last year it was hard to bale because of rain or cool weather when no rain. This year hot but barely any rain.

Here in western wyoming we are getting 2/3 or less of what we had last year average for dry ground grass this year .33 ton per acre last year .8 tons per bottom land hay sloughs are varied widely some are only of 10 percent most are off at least 30 percent. The irrigated hay is off at least 30 percent. No rain in June no rain most of July and a week in August. The weveles are doing great. Oh an a frost July and early august. The barley is beautiful but very light. Thankfully we have half of last year's hay left over.
