I got one of these and a drunk could have planted better have any of you used them? What kind of luck did you have?

Do you mean the Outback S-Lite? I use mine for tillage, wouldn"t trust it yet for planting. I did mount it on the planter tractor this Spring, but it didn"t always indicate properly. Not sure why, but it did the same for tillage sometimes. I was just checking it while planting, did not mean to rely on it.

I am sorry, yes I meant S lite, big fingers and I pad are a bad combination. I have used a raven in the past, borrowed it from a friend and really liked it. So being a tight a$$ I bought the Slite, I should have just bought a half gallon of good drinking whiskey, I would have done a better job. The lights were right on the money, but my rows are so sorry I can not cultivate them. I planted into rolled cereal rye and thats the only thing that is not making this field a total disaster. The down side was that you can not see the markers on the planter in rye. What kind of gps are you guys using and like? It has to be simple cause as you can see I have trouble with an I pad.

the problem with planting with a gps that doesnt do steering..its more for finding your mark back than trying to follow the little lights. my opinion. If you make a small error one pass..you will probably multiply that error on the next pass..and so on..until you get that "drunk effect" In my hills, just putting the antenna closer to the ground makes it much more accurate also.

Light bars generally are only waas differential correction. This is not good enough for planting. You need atleast decimeter level accuracy for planting and waas is rated at a meter. The catch is that you can't manually steer accurately enough by chasing lights to gain anything from moving to a better accuracy correction source will using a light bar.

To plant corn with GPS you need some kind of auto steer combined with an omnistar subscription, terrastar subscription, or rtk
