Back in the spring I sowed horse pasture mix after working up the ground and I have a pretty good stand of orchard grass, timothy, etc and I'm thinking about cutting and baling. It has good seed heads. Will it take a mowing or should I leave it stand?

I'd make sure the seed is mature. If there are still
routine rains I would mow it to shatter the seed back
down and clip just a little bit off of the leaves. A little
thatch will be good for it over the winter as a first
year grass. If it is very dry clipping leaves won't spur
it on - just take the seed off to help thicken the
stand.
