Glysophate resistant weeds. I have always used a high rate of glysophate trying to avoid resistant weeds.

Untill this field I had never had resistant weeds.

I had one 30 acre field of beans that I did not get my preplant herbicide on. Tiling and tillage to level over rode the time to get the preplant on.

So about 3 weeks after planting I hit it with 32 oz of glysophate, figuring I would hit it with another 32 oz 3 weeks or so later.

That first pass of glysophate did not kill the Water hemp as it had for me in the past.

I am going to hit it with Flexstar today.

So I can no longer claim no resistant weeds on my farms.

Well you have to remember mother nature is and always will be in control and the more man tries to out fox her the hard it is to do so. Many bugs are the same way now days as with bacteria

That's why I went Liberty. I still use Roundup, 24D, and Sharpen for burndown and then just spray once with Liberty. I think going to Liberty spray only like a lot of guys here have done is asking for resistant weeds. If you end up switching I'd keep glyph for burndown. Mine was Mare's Tail and ragweed. The pigweed wasn't far behind.

A couple of fields are really benefiting from no till. There are lots of acres I still disk, cultivate, and then spray once. I don't see either/or working in all of my soils.

We have had glyphosate resistance in water hemp in our area of central Iowa for a few years. A lot of cultivators have been dug out of the weeds including ours. Its bad enough that even the big for farmers are hitting their bad spots. The best we have found is 6oz of sonic and then flexstar or cultivator. This year its bad enough we may need to cultivate after the flexstar. More coming corn on corn is coming I believe.

The thing about say liberty or 24d beans is that there is already resistance to those products other places and it will be here to if many change. What we need for beans to be viable is new chemistry.
